Introducing Baqa - A captivating herbaceous and zesty blend, from the Islamic Golden Age. Discover the allure of Baqa. Derived from a 13th-century medieval Arabian cookbook. Meaning 'bouquet' or 'bunch' of herbs, this beautiful blend pays homage to the ancient herb trade. All natural, salt-free and vegan-friendly. The combination of several herbs with garlic and onion powder means a little goes a long way for this all-purpose seasoning.

Endless culinary adventures – A mere sprinkle brings a fresh zing to savoury dishes like pasta, soups, cheese toasties, roast potatoes, and that 70’s classic chicken vol-au-vents. At Camelēr Spice Co, we like to call it, “all things eggs”. One of our customers delighted in pairing Baqa with speckled mushrooms, cream cheese, and sourdough for a mouth-watering lunch. Fans of Za’atar will be captivated by the unique flavour alchemy that Baqa brings.

At Cameler Spice Co., we take pride in milling and blending our spices in-house. We do our utmost to use the freshest cooking spices within one year from field to jar. Our main objective is to minimize our supply chain by sourcing ingredients directly from regenerative farms. Indulge in the rich flavours of Baqa for up to two years, meticulously handwritten on the lid for a personal touch.

Origin
Before it was changed into the Arab provinces of the Ottoman Empire, the Arabic-Islamic Near East gave rise to a refined culinary culture. Abbasid Baghdad is known as the birthplace of the "new wave” cuisine, the first culinary capital of the Arabic-Islamic civilization. Between the 10th and 14th centuries, from Baghdad to Murcia, cookbooks flourished throughout the Arabic-speaking world, detailing the exquisite banquets of the Sultans feasts and the delectable treasures brought in through the herb and spice trade. Bāqa is an inspired variant on a lost recipe from the 13th century medieval Arabian era, found in an ancient cookbook, this blend plays homage to the ancient trade of herbs and spices.
Taste
Complex, herby flavours that are unified in harmony to supercharge your dishes. We think it might be a regular pantry staple.
Scent
Zesty and aromatic, it lives up to its translation as Bāqa “bouquet” of herbs with subtle undertones of garlic and onion powder.
How to use
A little sprinkle will bring a fresh zing to a host of different savoury dishes. All things eggs, from poached to omelettes. Add to baked beans on toast, pasta, soups, cheese toasties or even a tomato sandwich with some flaky salt. It is great as a seasoning for pizzas with some quality extra virgin olive oil. Taking you to the moon and back, your creations will be a new kind of euphoria on your palate. If you have enjoyed Za'atar then you are sure to like this also, albeit the flavour profile is different. This really is an amazing multipurpose mixed herb blend and we assure you that this is full of flavour. It is great in meat balls, homemade chicken burgers, baked salmon, baked prawns, chicken vol-au-vents or even in a lamb or mutton-based dish like Irish stew. Made of seven ingredients with lots of vivid green hues from five of the herbs, you could add it to your favourite salad dressing too. Reaching for Bāqa, will soon be like second nature for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
